What is Microblading?

There are many options today for beautifying the brows. So many of us have tried every method in the book: pencil, stencil, powder, pigment, or gel. While each is effective in their own way, they are not long-lasting and can occasionally verge on the unnatural.

This is where the advantages of microblading come into play. Microblading is actually a very precise and non-invasive form of tattoo artistry. How does it work? Pigment matching the colour of your brows in implanted under your skin in small, hair-like strokes. Microblading is extremely detailed because it uses a manual handheld tool instead of a machine.

Microblading ink is inserted into the upper region of the dermis. It goes much less deep into the skin than conventional tattoos, which also means it fades more rapidly.

What to Expect

To prepare for your appointment, there are several things to be mindful of. On the day of treatment, do not consume any coffee, alcohol, or energy drinks. Also make sure to avoid waxing or tanning in the two-three days prior to treatment. Finally, during the two weeks before your appointment, no chemical peels, laser, dermabrasion, or other intense treatments.

Your artist at Julian Anthony's will begin by doing a patch test on the skin, at least 24 hours before the procedure. You will be scheduled for a consultation for this.

At the start of your appointment, the artist will discuss your expectations and results with you. They will then draw on the eyebrow shape, measuring perfectly for your unique face shape and size.

The colour, perfectly selected to match your natural tone, will be determined, and the initial strokes will begin. Many clients feel no pain at all, while some experience very slight discomfort. For this reason, an anesthetic is applied. The brows are then completely filled in.

After the procedure, the artist applies medical silicone which remains on the skin for 12-24 hours.

Microblading Aftercare

After microblading, there are simple steps to ensure a quick healing. Avoid moisture to the area at all costs—this includes swimming, sweating, and the like. Before showering, apply a layer of post-care cream to protect the area. Avoid touching the area to avoid scarring or pigment removal.

You will be scheduled for a touch-up four to six weeks after the procedure. By this time, the area will be completely healed and the colour will be settled.
